These nuts are made of high-quality 18-8 (also known as 304 or A2) stainless steel for corrosion resistance. The nylon insert grips the screw to prevent loosening from moderate vibration without damaging threads. Nylon insert locknuts are reusable a couple of times, however the nylon's holding power degrades with each use.
